Clinic Digitalization is the Key to Faster, More Affordable, and More Equitable Healthcare Services

The challenge of healthcare in Indonesia lies not only in the number of facilities and medical personnel, but also in how all elements in the system can be interconnected and work efficiently. Amidst these needs, clinical digitalization is an inevitable solution—not just a trend, but a new foundation in providing faster, more transparent, and more inclusive healthcare services.

Local health tech startup, Vit, comes with a different approach: building an integrated, modular, and inclusive digital health ecosystem, from clinics and pharmacies in cities, to village health service facilities.

Why Clinics Need Digitalization Now?

Clinics are the frontline of primary health care. However, the majority still work manually or use unintegrated systems. As a result, many patients have to repeatedly fill in data, bring physical files, and experience long queues just for basic services.

"In fact, patient health data should be integrated into one system, accessible to medical personnel, and most importantly: accessible to patients themselves," said Andri Kurniawan, CEO of Vit.

With the approach Personal Health Record (PHR), Vit gives patients full control over their health data through an application that can be accessed independently. Patients can view medical records, medication history, lab results, and BPJS status — all from their mobile phones.

Integration that Unites Clinics, Pharmacies, Labs, and Patients

Vit builds a system that unites the entire service chain: clinics, pharmacies, laboratories, and patients in one interconnected digital platform. This means that doctors no longer need to re-fill basic information; pharmacies can immediately receive digital prescriptions; and patients do not need to repeat their stories when changing services.

“With one synchronized platform, waiting times are reduced, human error is reduced, and service becomes more consistent,” explained Apri Pardede, CTO of Vit.

Village-Friendly Telemedicine: A Real Solution Amidst Limitations

Telemedicine is not just about video calls with doctors. In many villages, the problem is not the consultation—it’s the connectivity. Vit realized this, and developed a semi-offline system, which allows clinics or health workers to input data even without a signal, and synchronize when a connection is available.

With the Digital Health Companion feature, residents who are not yet familiar with technology can still get optimal services. Local cadres or admins will facilitate the registration process, consultation, and data collection collectively.

"We want telemedicine to truly reach rural communities, not just be present in big cities," said Dr. Zwasta P. Mahardhika, M.Med.Ed., Sp.KKLP, CMO Vit.

Clinical Efficiency and Management Excellence

Vit estimates—based on internal trials and comparative studies of global clinic digitalization—that the use of an integrated system can:

  • Reduce operational costs by up to 30%, thanks to the Pay-as-You-Go scheme, where the clinic only pays when serving patients.
  • Reduces service time per patient by up to 32%, because patients have their own data and do not need to be re-inputted.
  • Increase patient retention by up to 40%, thanks to a direct engagement system from the application to the patient.

Reminder features, post-visit education, and two-way communication from the clinic to the patient also make a difference.

Modular Solutions, BPJS Integration, and White-Label

Vit is not just made for big cities. The system is modular, suitable for small and large clinics. It has been integrated with SATUSEHAT, support BPJS bridging, and is available in white-label format, allowing healthcare institutions or local governments to use Vit under their own brand.

“This is not just technology, it is about giving back time for doctors, convenience for patients, and efficiency for facilities,” Andri concluded.
